Clubs and Societies

Clubs

The following clubs are available at the school and are open to ALL students, and all members of staff are involved in club activities:

Junior Engineers Technicians and Scientists (JETS)

This club is compulsory for all students in SS1. Here students are taught how to create apparatuses using simple materials. They are divided into teams and expected to display their finished projects at the end of the term.

Literary/Debating and Press Club

This is where students are taught the act of public speaking, debates, impromptu speeches and news casting. They make presentations on the assembly at intervals.

 

Music Club

Students learn to play musical instruments, learn the lyrics to songs/hymns, form an orchestra/choir, and have rehearsals for major events at the school..

Home Makers Club

Students are taught the art of cooking, table setting, matting, and crocheting. The students are given the full recipe of a particular food/snack and are then taught how to make it. 

Mathematics Club

This club is for lovers of mathematics. Here students are groomed for competitions in mathematics including Cowbell competition, Olympiad, etc. As part of this club, a student’s problem solving skills are bound to develop with regular math exercises.

Red Cross Society

Students learn how the body reacts to sudden trauma and how to assist and give first aid during an accident. Members of this club are always on stand-by during he biannual interhouse sports competition of the school to assist the nurse. 

Cultural and Creative Arts Club

In this club students are encouraged to express themselves creatively. They can draw, paint, sculpt, share stories about their cultural heritage, etc.

ICPC Anti-Corruption Club

This is the school’s arm of the independent corrupt practices and other related offences commission (ICPC). Members of this club are our anti-corruption ambassadors. They create awareness on the dangers of corruption and why it should not be condoned in our society. 

Activities:

Sport

At St. Jude’s Private School, physical fitness and recreation are given a place of prominence in our weekly timetable. Students are encouraged to participate in various sporting activities like basketball, football, handball, badminton, hockey, volleyball, table tennis, etc. organized within the school.

Simming

Swimming is a life saving skill. Our school maintains a standard-sized swimming pool facility called SILOAM POOLS, which is located on 7th Avenue (opposite K close) in Festac town. Our facilities includes professional lifeguards, swimming instructors, sanitation officers,  and security guards to ensure safety, good

hygiene and security.

 

Music

Our music room is tastefully furnished and equipped with a multitude of musical instruments including Pianos, Saxophones, Trumpets, Steel pans, Euphoniums, Cellos, Guitars, Xylophones, Drums, Clarinets, etc. Students are encouraged to practice at least two musical instruments in ac instructor. St. Jude’s Private School has earned a distinction for our success in music competitions, locally and internationally.

Inter-House Sports Competition

This is a biannual event in our school where the various school houses compete for medals and trophies. The houses include: House of love (Blue), House of Honesty (Red), House of Obedience (Green), and House of Tolerance (Yellow). Our annual sports fiesta fosters the spirit of competitiveness and teamwork, and enables students to showcase their talents and improve on their previous individual or team record. The competition includes a wide variety of track, field and indoor events, which gives room for many students to participate.

Schools in the neighborhood are invited to participate in invitational relays and the school also honor these schools by taking part in their invitational relays. The St. Jude’s relay team has done our school proud on many occasions.
