Discover the Thrills and Gains of Reading!

A school library is a world of stories- fiction and non-fiction. It is a haven of tales where young minds explore and discover new worlds which also serves as a tool for research and new findings.

Explore Our Library: Welcome to our school library, a magical gateway to fun, adventure, knowledge and fantasy. Here, we believe that a well-equipped library is no luxury but a necessity that promotes learning. It is a place within our school where pupils and staff have access to a variety of informative materials.

Our Mission: Our library was built with the goal of facilitating learning. The library department seeks to develop and sustain in our pupils the culture of reading, its mission is to help learners enjoy reading and learning and this will help in developing their imagination and thinking abilities, thus, equipping them to attain great heights in life.

SJPS Library and Stock: Our library’s colours and warm ambience welcomes each learner into a quiet, comfortable place that easily puts them in the mood to read, research and learn.

St. Jude’s Private School library is filled with a wide range of books, from hilarious jokes, adventurous tales and magical worlds to mystery fiction and fascinating facts and fun stories.

The library stock is catalogued in such a way that allows pupils easily access and retrieve materials which include richly coloured activity-books, periodicals, reference texts and encyclopedias.

New Arrivals and Library Use: In order to achieve our aim of grooming avid readers, we constantly update our library with interesting texts that comprise of a fine mix of different genres of literature including fiction and non-fiction, poems, plays and prose. Pupils are encouraged to read-in and also borrow books to read to help hone their reading skills.

Class Libraries: The school library also sets up and oversees the class library in each class. The goal of the class library is to help pupils utilize very short breaks in between class activities to read. These interesting books on their shelves keep them gainfully occupied during those moments and even spurs reluctant readers to pick up a book to read.

Library Classes: Another avenue the library department employs to achieve its goal is by giving lessons that introduce the pupils to interesting literary related topics like story maps, writing of book reviews and poetry. This approach enables the class to treat a literary subject or read a book alongside the librarian and this further ignites in the pupils the passion to read and their love for the literary world.

Book Club: The library department runs an interesting book club with the aim of grooming literary whiz kids. They meet weekly to read, critique books, write book reviews and adapt stories. One of our recent reads was Super Fly- The World’s Smallest Superhero! by Todd H. Doddler

Book Fairs: To encourage pupils to buy and read books, the library team also runs a book fair in collaboration with notable authors and bookshops each term, this practice aids parents or guardians in purchasing wish listed books for their children with ease.

Games: Game sessions take place during certain periods in the library, games like quizzes, brain teasers, puzzles and scrabble are played during these sessions. These practical, fun-filled sessions help reluctant readers and learners who love to get hands-on, enjoy being in the library and learning from a book.

E-Library: Our digital resources would be accessed by our pupils with their electronic devices and their individual login details.

The main goal of our E-Library service is to give our pupils access to a vast collection of censored and age-appropriate e-books and reference texts irrespective of their location and the school calendar. This will also enable our pupils’ take their favourite collection with them everywhere they wish to, which ultimately helps to sustain the habit of reading.

We hope you enroll your children in our school so that they can come join us in exploring the wonderful world of books!
