Our History

The Primary School

St. Jude’s Private Primary school began as Crown Day Nursery at Jubril Martins Street, Surulere. It relocated to Festac town in October 1978 and was renamed.

Initially, the school consisted of six classrooms, an office, four restrooms, and two staff – Mrs. Akpan and the Director, Mrs. Jatto (formerly Mrs. Okonma).

By the end of the year, student enrollment was at sixty-two, from nursery one to primary six, and we were at capacity, hence two more blocks and an administrative office were added in October 1980.

The first permanent structure was constructed, and by the end of the session, all the classes were occupied, making a total of sixteen classrooms. The demand for admission into the school continued to increase exponentially, and so twelve more classrooms were added to the existing structure.

Currently, the kindergarten and primary school have thirty classrooms, a Montessori room, a library, a well-equipped science laboratory, a computer laboratory, a music room, an art room, a playroom (for pupils in the creche and kindergarten), an assembly hall, a dining hall, and a sick bay with a certified nurse.
